Sad……they’re selling a bundle of their entire product line for $25
29,55 € (includes 20% VAT for France)
I don’t know if I’ll ever use any of the Kontakt VIs, but the one I already own is solid. I’m happy to support the dev before he shuts down. 70 GB total, with individual downloads. Gonna take awhile, even with my gigabit fiber Internet connection. If nothing else, I think having their Kontakt GUI maker is worth the cost on its own.
I was not aware of Rigid Audio before.
Is anybody here using their Kontakt GUI maker? I’m wondering it seems that this version was just released in 2024, so it should be running OK on latest OS releases.
Any experiences? Will/does it work with Kontakt 7 or 8?
I just “installed” it [Windows 11 Pro]. The serial number you get when purchasing the bundle is for the GUI Maker. Note that it’s a separate download via the link in an email. I never received an email with the serial number itself. It’s on the FastSpring download page. I copied it into a Notepad text document for backup purposes.
After downloading the GUI Maker .ZIP file and unzipping it, the resulting folder contains the actual executable. There’s no installer. There’s also no mention of whether it’s a 32-bit or 64-bit, so I picked 32-bit and moved the entire folder to the "Program Files (x86) folder.
I then created a shortcut to the executable. The installation “instructions” mention that it needs to run with Admin privileges, so I ticked that box in the shortcut properties. The first time I ran it, it asked for a serial number or you could choose the demo mode. If you have copied the serial number into the clipboard, it automatically fills in when you press the Register button. Nice!
When you run the executable on a 4K monitor, it comes up kind of small in the center of the display. There’s no specific option to scale the UI, but you can grab the lower right corner and resize it. When you do that, you have to be aware that it doesn’t automatically retain its aspect ratio. Round knobs get turned into ellipses. You can grab the bottom or right side and resize the UI, which looks pretty darn good when it’s resized.
The only downside is that it doesn’t remember the size you scaled it to the previous time, so you have to go through the grab-and-drag process each time.
There is one demo GUI that gives you something to play around with.
I have Kontakt 5, 6, 7 and 8 installed. I’ll check it later using the demo GUI and see how old it goes.
EDIT 1: Duh. If you click on the “Full Screen” square icon top right in the window, it resizes to full screen with the proper aspect ratio. So, forget what I said above.
EDIT 2: The demo project loaded in Kontakt 6, 7 and 8. I got a “version too old” error with Kontakt 5. I’m not sure if that will apply to instruments I create now, or not.
