Rig Manager with 2 PCs doesn't work

Hello everyone!

I think I’m currently having a problem understanding how to operate the Rig Manager.
I would like to implement the following scenario, but I can’t:
I use 2 PCs with Gig Performer, possibly three in the future. The same gig file is on all devices.
My main computer is “Stage-PC1”, where I have created all my rackspaces/setlists so far.
As a backup or in the rehearsal room, I use “Stage-PC2”, which only receives the current copy of the gig file, so to speak.

However, I use an Arturia 88 MK3 and a GXP49 with PC1. With PC2 I would like to use an older Arturia 88 and an M-Audio keyboard.

My previous thought was as follows:
I have set up all rackspaces etc. on PC1 based on the two keyboards (Wiring not with OMNI). In the Rig Manager, I assigned the alias “KL88” and “GXP49” and assigned the appropriate device to each, as well as the corresponding faders. This works wonderfully.
I also duplicated a rig with the name “PC2” and removed the midi association from the alias.
Now I export the rig file and import it into PC2. The aliases appear and I can also assign them. However, the VSTs do not receive a midi signal. In Gig Performer I can see the midi input light up, so the signal is coming in, but is not assigned correctly.

(Do all midi keyboards perhaps have to be plugged into PC1 once so that they are all known there? But that contradicts the concept of the Rig Manager, or am I misunderstanding? Unfortunately I can’t test it directly as I don’t have two keyboards on site - hence the question!)

I hope I have been able to describe my situation clearly.
I would be very grateful if someone here could help me, because unfortunately I just can’t get it right!

Thank you very much!!!

Simply relearn the alias mapping to the (possibly changed) physical controller.

Referring to the picture below either

  1. If you press a key on one of your controllers, you should see it light up on the left and side

  2. Click the three dots (purple arrow) and then click Learn MIDI device (red arrow) and play a single note on the controller to be associated with that alias or

  3. Just double-click on the alias (Yellow arrow - this is a short cut) and play a single note on the controller

Thank you for your answer.

I have now been able to establish a connection so that the alias also light up when the button is pressed. However, I now have to manually set the Midi Input Device to e.g. the KL88 (it’s the same with the GXP49), although this has actually already been created as an alias on PC1 and I have set up all my Rackspaces with this alias.
There is an option where Gig Performer asks if I want to replace all similar devices, but I’m not sure whether this function also takes over or overwrites all transpositions etc.! I haven’t dared to try that yet.

But surely this should normally work in another way without having to replace all the keyboards?
Thx

The Rig Manager is the modern replacement for that original approach.

You have to set all your MIDI in blocks to the appropriate aliases once. After you have done that, you just use the Rig Manager to reconfigure.

That old mechanism may still help you change everything in one go - but check that it did everything right.
