I’m trying to use Rig Manager to control the sustain pedal polarity. I’ve got the MIDI control alias defined for the sustain pedal event. However, on both settings (“Normal” and “Reversed”) the notes remain sustained without pressing the pedal down. Why would Gig Performer not be changing the polarity?
I have an M-Hammer 88 controller and a Yamaha FC-4 sustain pedal.
I haven’t experiemented with the “Control Mode” settings yet. “Absolute” is checked.
Play a chord and press the sustain pedal. Notes do not remain on. Release the pedal and the chord. Play the chord again without pressing the pedal and the notes are sustained. Press the sustain pedal down and the noes are turned off.
Ok, and now place a local midi monitor after your midi in plugin
How look the midi messages?
With rig manager window open, do you see that the midi control alias is reacting when you press and release your sustain pedal?
Do you mean place a MIDI monitor after the MIDI in block in the rackspace? If I do that I get the same messages in the global monitor and the local MIDI monitor. They do not change when the Polarity setting is changed in Rig Manager.
Guessing that Polarity setting should “flip” the CC messages so I would receive CC 64 127 first but that does not happen. It’s always CC 64 0 arriving first.
I am still on Gig Performer 4. Don’t think there is a reported bug with that relatively new feature.
Note: The polarity of the sustain and expression pedals is determined by the keyboard upon startup. When Hammer 88 is powering up, the sustain pedal is assumed to be in the
“up” (Off) position. It is important that the sustain pedal is not pressed during startup, otherwise the pedal will reverse its operation, and notes will sustain when the pedal is not
pressed.
Once I completely powered down the M-Hammer 88 and back up the Yamaha pedal started working.
Somehow it seems the M-Hammer 88 is overriding the Gig Performer Rig Manager setting. But it’s working for me now.
Yes, the MIDI CC messages are now arriving in a different order now: CC 64 127, then CC 64 0 for pedal release.
Previously, there was a Stage One pedal plugged in with different polarity.
I did all the configuration to invert the polarity of the sustain pedal and it doesn’t matter if I use normal or reversed, the pedal’s operation remains the same. Anyone with the same situation?
I tested with 2 different sustain pedals and on 2 different keyboards: Arturia Keylab MKII and Fantom-0.
