Reason 11 isn’t designed to work on an M2 chip

Greetings,

I’m brand new to GP and am using the current demo version on a MacBook Pro using an M2 Chip running OS15.6.1 Sequoia. I’d like to be able to use Reason in GP as a tone generator live and be able to change patches in Reason mid tune from my MIDI controller.

But, first I have to get the Reason rack to load. It shows up as a plug-in but when I load it I only get the attached screen shot.

Thoughts?

Mark

What version of Reese Rack are you using?
VST, VST3, AU ?

Seems there is a general problem, as in Ableton Live 12 this happens also

Reason Rack 11. On a Mac so I’ll assume AU.

Reason shows up as an option twice along with “Reason Effects Rack”

Assume does not help
How looks your plugin manager window?
Can you try to load the AU version of that pluging and the VST3 version?

What did you load?
Reason Rack plugin?

You can use Reason Rack Plugin (VST3/AU/AAX) as a plugin in any DAW or host or you can use Reason as a standalone music making

For what it’s worth, I have Reason 13 and it seems to work fine (VST3 vesion on a Mac Mini M4)

Yes, AU version. Tried all three versions with the same results.

Reason works fine as a standalone DAW and opens in Sibelius as a plug-in.

Please download trial version of Reason 13 and try it?

Reason isn’t loading with a VST option only AU. I really don’t want to have to upgrade Reason to use GP. There’s been a lot of grumbling about the new interface. I’m already trying to learn GP and don’t want to have to deal with another new parameter.

Wasn’t suggesting you upgrade. Just thought it would be useful to see if it works.

By the way, I assume you are running the universal version of GP, and not the Intel version with Rosetta. The latter could certainly cause all sorts of issues

Correct, M2 Chip MacBook so no need for Rosetta.

Yeah, no…that’s not what I asked. My question was whether, by mistake, you downloaded and are running the Intel version of Gig Performer instead of the Universal version.

That said, I see from early posts hat Ableton has issues with earlier versions of Reason as well.

Worked it out. Turns out Reason 11 isn’t designed to work on an M2 chip. I had to upgrade to 13. Now the rack loads instantly. Now if I could just get MIDI to the Reason rack all would be well. Posting a new thread for that issue.
