Would it be possible to loop in an external hardware effect somewhere in the signal flow, as a best-case scenario a GP-Widget that sends the signal to a defined output of my audio interface, where I plug in a guitar stompbox or similar, the return its output to an input of said audio interface and continue in Gig Performer? Like the fx insert of a guitar amp.
I’m using my trusty old Behringer X32 Rack as audio interface, so there’s ample Ins and Outs. Just would like to somehow break down the over-abundance of those Ins and Outs into several “send/return modules”.
I may be over-/underthinking this. What are your thoughts?
Should work exactly how you described… why not just try it and then tell us how it went?

Hmmmmm. Why indeed. Can’t find the kind of Widget I described. Single audio output and a single audio input. Kinda like an audio mixer widget, but only 1 channel mono/stereo. Know what I mean?
That’s not a question of a “widget” - a widget is only a “virtual control element”.
Your FX-Loop has to be made in the wiring view first. So just use audio in/out blocks and inbetween a mixer block of your choice. They are laid out as stereo, but you can use them as mono as well.
Also see the docs for that!

Thanks, yeah, I was thinking along this line but got stuck at my audio in/out blocks being 32 channels wide, which makes the whole thing a bit clunky.
Let me rephrase my initial question, because I realize it was a bit hazy: Is there a way to build and add several “custom audio in/out” modules/widgets/elements with a custom number of inputs/outputs in Gig Performer?
You can only use the provided Audio In and Audio Out plugins.
What Audio Interface are you using?
It’s great to finally have this old thing in my synth rack. And thanks to GP, I can provide guitar and bass players access to a lot of virtual amp stuff at the same time. My wish to somehow loop in some crusty old “vintage” stompboxes ain’t essential in any way. Just wanted to know if it’s at all possible to create building blocks like those I mentioned - “virtual fx send/return” thingies
I’d be very interested in accessing the interface’s ins and outs via scripting … IF that’s possible without resorting to very machine level coding.
What do you mean by that?
Know what? I’ll try first, and maybe ask as soon as I fail and have some concrete request(s). Sorry for the bother
Too much lost in translation today, can’t seem to find the correct english phrases.
