Ram Use Goes Down During Sessions Using GP

I am curious. I have noticed that when I first open up GP and check my Task Manager, ram seems to at its highest, as high as 76% I think.

Lately I have been checking periodically at different times and at other times (I think after using GP for some time) ram use shows as much lower, I think on a number of occasions it has been 46%.

Is this expected? At the risk of highlighting my ignorance I could throw out theories (it is slowly releasing ram used for something else, like email or internet browser). (By the way, I do not generally use this computer for checking email or browsing the internet, but if I am installing a new soft synth/sample library it may be necessary (or least the a reasonable way to do it).

Are you using predictive load?

Nope.

I also observed what you describe, so I guess that like me, you are under Win, right? Funny Win things…

Maybe it’s some effect of “Memory compression” which can be seen in the taskmanager’s resource monitor?

Yes, this is expected and should be same for both Windows and macOS. There was a discussion that explained this behavior, but I cannot find this thread using the Search feature.

Yes, Windows OS.

Meh - sounds like Windows doing memory management, swapping pages out when it decides they’re not needed any more.
