Rackspace script affecting another rackspace

I have come across this strange behaviour, which seems like a bug. I will attach a gig file containing the problem, stripped down as much as possible. I have removed all wirings, plugins, and all widgets except one.

There are two rackspaces. “Crazy” and “Comfortably Numb”. The first one contains a rackspace script, which is supposed to change from song part 2 to 3 when release the E4 key. The second rackspace does not have any scripts.

Try this, in setlist mode.

Select the song “Crazy”, goto song part 2. Now press and release E4. The song part changes to number 3. That is how it should be.

Now change to song “Comf numb”, goto song part 2, press and release E4. The song part also changes to part 3, even though there is no script in this rackspace. How does that happen?

The problem goes away if I remove the last widget. But I need that to disable E4 in the other song parts.

I believe its because you have MIDI Patch Persist enabled.

Your MIDI In block is set to transpose 20 semitones.
When you play E4, while the script is interpreting E4 the MIDI In block is transposing to a C6 Note On message(if you attach a MIDI Monitor to your MIDI In block you will see this). No corresponding C6 Note Off is being sent, so when you switch rackspaces MIDI Patch Persist is still operating as if you were holding down the C6 note, which is keeping the rackspace script in the previous rackspace active.
If you turn Patch Persist off for that rackspace, the issue doesn’t occur.

It may be a bug, but one of the devs will have to decide that. It is an odd scenario.

Nice catch. I would never have found out myself

Bug or not, somebody else must decide. It is indeed an edge case.
