Problem with sustain pedal to Kontakt

Hi! So, I had an epiphany the other day, which is, I can stop using three sustain pedals if I have a dedicated MIDI input with all MIDI data blocked except sustain, connected to the input with a single sustain pedal, which I can route to every plug in. It works great, except with Kontakt. Kontakt will sustain with a pedal connected to the midi in block associayed with the controller playing that plugin, but will not respond to sustain data from the dedicated “sustain” block. I can’t find anywhere in Kontakt to specifically deal with sustain data or to route it where i want it to go. Anyone have any ideas on how to get all of my soft synths and samplers sustaining with a single pedal?

This routing works just fine for me. There are many performers here using Sustain-only blocks like in this example.

I didn’t change anything in Kontakt, so I’m not sure why you’re having an issue.
What does your routing look like?

Maybe I should have a block for each instance? The other thing I’m just now seeing us the Enable MIDI merge on the MIDI in blocks… perhaps running the sustain data into the midi in blocks rather into Kontakt itself would clear it up? It’s very odd, it seems strighforward and like it should just work but something is getting cut off somewhere in there.

Are you sure that your Kontakt instruments are set to the correct MIDI channel for whatever channel you’re using for the sustain pedal? And your sustain pedal is definitely sending on CC 64? And that the sustain pedal messages are reaching Kontakt?

I won’t go into the weird behavior in any more detail, but basically my midi controller was sending on 5, not, mind you, the controller that the sustain pedal was going into, but something about it caused a kink in the system. Everything was set to omni in the software anyway, but for some reason the system at large didn’t like channel 5 happening. Setting all everything to MIDI channel 1 made it all work properly. Thanks for the help/info!
