I am reaching out because I have lots of issues recently with constant lag and freezing (mac-colored spinning wheel). I am working on a Macbook Pro with a dual-core Intel core i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, running OS 12.7.6. I have seven rackspaces in my session with different plugins. My CPU usage is around 22 % (when I turn off wifi and Bluetooth/ *, around 34% otherwise). I have enabled predictive learning loading and selected 3 rackspaces to see if that makes a difference, and yet I am still getting the same issue of the system hanging up and the Mac spinning wheel. Has anyone else encountered this same issue, and what have you found helpful in resolving this problem? Again, the problem is that the system gets hung up, and the Mac loading spins when the keys are backlogging into my system. I am trying to find a limit or end this hang-up. I purchased Gig Performer because it was said to be stable, and you could load different plugins and get easy access to them without opening and closing things in standalone mode.
I would appreciate any guidance someone could give me in resolving this problem. Thank you community.
I have seen a similar effect with my MacBook Pro (M3 32GB Ram) from time to time. Suddenly GP is blocked (spinning wheel) for a few seconds. After this it works a usual. Sound processing is working but the GP interface is blocked. Sofar i have not found the root cause. A few times i have noticed the Time Machine connects to my NAS when GP is blocked. But that’s only a hint and my guessing.
Are these figures from the CPU figure displayed in Gig Performer, or from the Mac Activity Monitor? If it was from GP, I’m surprised at this difference.
Are you moving through rackspaces or songs in order, one at a time, and allowing time for the next rackspace/song to load before selecting the next one?
If you open the Mac’s Activity Monitor and the Memory tab, what does your memory usage look like? Are you reaching the limit of your 16GB?
