Portable monitor for amateur karaoke

I’m looking to buy a 15” -17” portable, wireless monitor for close up karaoke for perhaps up to two people. It would need to be fairly bright I guess, and not too big to carry. Would also need to be robust hence the idea of a portable one built for the road. Any suggestion would be welcomed. Cheers.

I use the Mackie Thump Go for my daughter’s acoustic guitar and voice performances. It’s battery powered and has Bluetooth, plus mic and instrument inputs. It sounds quite good, and it has various EQ profiles and a feedback elimination feature. It’s small and lightweight and fits on a standard speaker pole.

You might not need battery power, but sometimes AC power isn’t all that close to where you want to set up. It’s nice to just turn it on without stringing a power cord to trip over.

I recently saw a review where the newer EV speaker had deeper bass, but similar mids and highs, but it cost nearly twice as much.

Just recently, Mackie announced the Thump Sub Go. If you were to add that subwoofer in the future, you’d have all the deep bass you’d want in a matched set. Then add a second monitor for stereo… Anyway, it’s a system that could grow over time.

Personally, I’ve always liked the sound of Mackie’s speakers for live use. They tend to be flattering without sounding too scooped or processed.

Oh, and the Thump Go has been robust, so far. It still looks good, even after traveling without a case.
