Permanent VU-meter audio bar on Rackspaces

Hi friends,
greetings to everyone; this is my first post on the forum! :slightly_smiling_face:

My desire would be to have a “led bar” permanently available on the rackspace space, so that you can constantly monitor the output signal level.

Maybe with the possibility of also having the “peak hold” function.

The input and output levels of the audio device are displayed at the bottom of the rackspace, but they are too small!
I know that a widget is available that displays the audio signal, but having one constantly displayed would be much more convenient; and also would not take away space for other widgets on the rackspace.

I enclose an example image that I have only realized to provide an idea (I know that developers can do much better!)

Thank you.

What if someone uses an audio interface with multiple outputs? Which of the outputs will be represented by those two bars, and what about the others?
I think, with the VU-widgets, you already have the right tool at hand.

Hi schamass,
I’ve think about that feature for a live use, so I’m interested in monitoring the two “master” channels.

As already written in my post, I am aware of the existence of the widget that displays an audio level of your choice but having a default display bar would be much more comfortable.

You can’t assume that “master” channels implies two channels.

For example, in both bands with which I play live, I have eight master channels. In other words, I’m sending eight audio channels to the FOH mixer.

It may be that we should have a separate window that just has a large view of input/output metering (and I’ll put that idea in our tracking system) but just having a two channel built-in view wouldn’t work for anyone using more than 2 channels. As @schamass noted, you can just add a couple of VU widgets to a rack panel.

OK, it’s true.
Everyone can use as many audio channels as desired! (dependently on the configuration of their audio interface).

Could you use the meters in the bottom right of your screenshot? If so, you wouldn’t have to add them to each rackspace.

The size of the meters at the bottom of the rackspace is too small to be decently visible and effectively usable to get an exact indication of the audio level!
And I use a 23" touch monitor …

I think David’s idea for a separate window with VU meters is quite brilliant.
Imagine a “real” meter-bridge that you can bring up whenever you need it.
Maybe there could be some additional options, like “peak-hold” or even a RTA-functionality?
I’m looking forward to what kind of rabbit our code-wizards will pull out of their tophats… :sunglasses:
