Paul Hassinger is DevOps, Elastic Computing, Security, and Automation Architect Leader from Texas, United States.
He’s also a hobby musician! In this video, Paul showcases his Gig Performer setup and says he is
An amateur with a small budget, doing his own thing and just playing for fun. Maybe an open mic here and there.

After I watched the video, well, that doesn’t look so amateurish to me!
Actually, while he is an a budget, he created a VERY functional setup!
–
So, his setup is:
- Main computer: macOS computer
- Lyrics/Lead sheets: Windows tablet that runs MobileSheets
- MIDI Controller: Arturia Keylab 88 MK2
- Audio Interface: Scarlett 18i20 + smaller Focusrite interface
- Gig Performer 5: with two instances running.
- Narfsounds: 80s Sound Pack
- Lights switching: Q Light Controller Plus 4.13.1 (he also mentioned Obsidian Onyx)
Gig Performer instances are connected using the GP Relayer plugin.
The second Gig Performer instance is called Mixer and it contains backing tracks, along with lights, lyrics, automation.
His Global rackspace is busy and it includes:
- Live Synth Mix / Live Synth Mono Mix
- Live Backing Track Mix / Live Backing Track Mono Mix
- Original Backing Track Mono Mix
- Click Track Mono Mix
- Cue Mono Mix
- and more
The Windows tablet with Mobile Sheets is connected using Bluetooth to the Mac that is running Gig Performer. The configuration was a bit flaky, but does the job.
Paul also uses some scripting to enhance the functionality of his MIDI controller. He uses the script that allows him to control his LCD screen on Arturia Keylab. Check out the script in this thread.
