OS X Universal vs intel options

Does it matter which to update to latest dload?

Just have Big Sur on MacBook Pro mid 2015

Use the universal, but there should be no difference,
I tested both

May I ask - out of curiosity - why there is always both an Intel and a universal installer for MacOS?
“Universal” implies that it runs on both Silicon and Intel, so why is there still a separate Intel-only version?

The Universal version supports both Intel and Apple Silicon natively but only works on more recent versions of macOS.

The Intel version works on machines back to macOS 10.9.

Unlike a certain competitor, we don’t need you to have to buy a new machine or install the latest OS to be able to use the latest version of Gig Performer

I’m sure at some point we will have to give up on the 10.9 - 10.13 support but we’ll do our best to keep it as long as we can.

Ah, great - I didn’t know this was for compatibility reasons (a great plus!). Thank you!
