I’ve programmed and re-programmed the song “Time of My Life” from the movie “Dirty Dancing” over the last three years over two completely different rigs. In all cases, I can’t seem to solve an issue where notes get stuck on with the string parts I play on the bottom part of my upper controller. Note that this has been the case with three different upper controllers, two different expression pedals and two different plugins for the strings. It is now expected I will have to hit the panic button at least once, if not 3-5 times every time I play this song.
I have no qualms sharing the current rackspace, but I’m also seeking feedback on approaches to solving the problem. This never happens at home while practicing, but always happens at a gig and I’m struggling to figure out how to capture the conditions that cause it. Feedback and guidance are appreciate as always.
Has it ever occurred with other plugins? Having it occur with 3 different controllers does give a good indication that the issue is elsewhere. But having a MIDI Monitor in your wiring view would help rule that out. If the correct note on/off is going into the plugin, then the problem will be the plugin.
This is also one of those scenarios where trying a different plugin type (VST3/VST2) could be a good test.
As to what plugin(s), at first it was Korg Triton Extreme from Korg Collection 3 and now it is Roland Zenology Pro. There are scriplets in the gig file, however there are no scriplets involved in this particular rackspace nor the global rackspace.
I would also note that this has occurred in GP 3.x - 5.x.
The three controllers have been (in order of usage).
Roland Fantom X7 (when I was still using GP3 on Windows)
Roland FA07 (when I switched to Mac and GP4)
Nord Stage 4 73 compact edition (with both GP4 and 5)
