One Shot Samples - Global or individual rackspaces?

Hi guys,

Another newbie question. I have a bunch of one-shot samples. I have already set up my global rackspace with a SAFP for tracks that get selected when the song is selected in the song list .

Should I use a sampler to play back the one-shot samples in the rackspace for that song? Sometimes there are multiple for a song, and I know how to lay it out on the keys with a sampler. But should I be using the SAFP instead? If so, how do you set it up so that I can assign different keys or buttons to select different samples?

Or as I’m typing this out, I think I’m overthinking it. and just use a sampler in the rackspaces that are needed

I used to use a free sample player and it worked just fine:

FWIW, I switched to using the GP Streaming Audio File Player because (as the name suggests) it streams from disk, and I try to optimize ram to the extent I can (I like using one large gig file with all my songs/rackspaces for all bands, etc.).

I do the simple option in your final sentence, just insert it in rackspaces (connected to song parts) where needed. Note, you do not have the issue of backing tracks running through song parts. So, in your/my case there may be no need to put the SAFP in the Global Rackspace.
