Does anyone know why the Chordpro menu doesn’t appear in the Setlist Option please? Been scouring this forum and other resources online but can’t see anything that helps.
What specific settings are you looking for?
Yep, I know why. It’s because we didn’t put the Chordpro menu inside the options for setlists
What are you trying to do?
@rank13 @dhj I’m not seeing Chordpro files in the setlist window, so was wondering if the lack of the Chordpro root folder like it shows in the documentation is a clue as to why.
The location of the actual file matches the location in the Locations tab of Options, I’ve added the file in Song Properties, but the Chordpro file doesn’t appear. I can’t work out why not.
If it helps, I’m using a MacBookPro M2, running Sonoma14.5
Thanks for helping me out here. It’s driving me nuts!
Hi @CarlP
from what I understood what you are going to try: the ChordPro files don’t show up automatically in the Setlist view.
If you want to use these files (in your Root folder…). you have to create a song in the GP setlist and assign/map a chord Pro song to this song.
Step 1: create a song - you can not map here, only show a mapped ChordPro Song
Step 2: open the Lyrics/Chords Window and assign a file by selecting your new song and open CP
Now it shows up in the song properties

Thank you. I have already done all those steps though, and it still doesn’t appear in the Setlist window
I‘m still wondering, what you are missing: do you expect to see the Chords/Lyrics instead of the rackspaces writhing song/setlist view?
These are only shown in a dedicated window - the same where younger assigning the files… or you can use the additional Lyrics/Chords extension…
It’s not clear at all what you mean by this.
Please post some screenshots highlighting the issue.
I’m beginning to think I’m misunderstanding the feature.
I had thought it was possible to have lyrics appear as part of the Setlist page, so I can manage songs and parts whilst also being able to see lyrics. Is that not possible?
The ChordPro window is a separate window that you open separately from the Setlist view
Yep, I can go to the Window menu and select Song Lyrics/Chords and the file associated with the song opens. What I can’t work out is how to automate the opening of the file when I select the song. Is that possible? I hope so as I can’t see it being very useful to have a lyric available otherwise
With little scripting you can do that
Thank you. I had a feeling that might be the case. My heart sinks I have to be honest. I’m not a programmer so will struggle.
It seems such a simple thing to provide the ability to add a window to the Setlist page, when a PDF, Jpg or Chordpro file/image could be displayed as you move through Songs/Parts. I don’t understand why GP hasn’t already done that given that other people seem to have struggled. Do you know if this might become easier in GP5?
Sorry I do not know what GP 5 may improve.
As long as the window is open it updates as you change songs. It is designed for (if you choose to use it) you open the window, put it where you want (usually on a secondary screen/monitor) and as you change songs it displays the info for the current song.
It did….a long time ago….have you checked the documentation?
Thanks. That’s answered my question
Yes I have, cheers
Then I don’t quite understand why you asked why GP hasn’t already done that?
I imagined something quite a bit slicker tbh. It seemed quite a clunky solution I thought I must be missing something.
I appreciate everyone’s efforts to help and it’s now clear I’d not missed anything at all, except the need to manually open the window from a menu, and find a place in the Setlist window to place lyrics. It’s much more basic than I imagined, and a bit out of step with the many great features of GP.
