Nick Pollard is a keyboardist in a synth pop duo aiming to sound like The Pet Shop boys.
He relies on backing tracks and his backing tracks are bespoke and recorded in the studio. All the arrangements, keys, and the various instrumentation is worked out before the gigs.
Backing tracks are run by StageTraxx 3 - it gives him 8 stereo pairs which then allows for “excellent expansion for the biggest sound possible”.
We use 7 of them for dedicated basses, guitars, drums backing vocals and keys etc.
That’s plugged in via USB to a UI24r mixing desk.
The desk is then tracked to match all the stereo pairs and then add in the live instrumentation and vocals for our gigs.
We hand the desk laptop to festivals for them to manage the sound as we also run an IEM rig for click and foldback.
The two Arturias are connected via USB C to the other laptop running Gig Performer 5. This software is friggin awesome and allows me to run various VSTs
I choose an ESI audio adapter as that gives me 8 outs… I plan to use 6 (3 stereo pairs) w for the Arturias and when I pull the trigger On a Roland keytar…
The iPad and laptop are connected via Bluetooth midi so all keys patches is trigged in song etc
Overall the UI 24 - we have approx 21 channels running … this includes the live keys, vocals which have various side chained FX, click and IEM mixes…
We also run our own WiFi hotspot so the desk can be controlled via laptop or iPad and also allows me to host stagetrax for the vocalist to see lyrics / cues etc
