New to GigPerformer & Controllers

Thank you for the links npudar, I will be sure to check them out today.

How do you like OnSong? I have been using it on an iPad for 4-5 years. I find it to just OK. Can be finicky at times. I’ll edit setlists on my desktop (connected over my home network) and things don’t always stay updated between the desktop and the ipad (while editing). Sometimes I’ve re-ordered songs in a setlist (while connected to desktop web-app) and the update is not saved. I am on an old version (I think). They changed to a new version that was subscription based? Is that right? And I didnt upgrade to that. So that may be an issue. But was just wondering what your experiences were. Thx

I just went from a ā€œFree Trailā€ user to a Full blown ā€œPaidā€ user. Looking forward to what is to come…

I stayed with the 2020 version. When V2024 came out, I found that they had added more menus which to me was a pain. I find 2020 reliable enough to stick with. V 2020 gets an update now and then, but its simplicity still makes it worthwhlle to keep using.

I did have trouble with using its Ethernet connection via Bome network into my Surface Pro. I had a series of embarrassing gigs where it would not connect and I could not complete the gig. That was because OnSong drives GP and totally controls everything GP needs to do mid-iwise. During a recent online session with my US tech, I discovered that OnSong was not connecting completely to the Surface which explained why there wasn’t any communication. By sheer chance, I exited OnSong and right away, actioned it again. To my delight, a white tick appeared and the Ethernet connection established itself. So I look for the white tick in Bome Network everytime now. I also take a Bome Box with me to use itā€˜s access point as a backup wireless connection should the Ethernet fail for some reason. As a midi controller, OnSong is excellent.

Why would you not edit set lists directly on the iPad itself?

I have a question on how I should set up my Rackspaces.

I am using Two Novation 61SL MkIII (Top & Bottom). I will only use these two controllers during the live performance. I currently pan audio left and right so top controller is left audio and bottom controller is right so sound man can have some control over volume control depending on the venue. I still need to download Vindes a Novation SL MkIII Extension and see how to incorporate this into my setup.

Should I set this up in Global Rackspace so it is the same for each individual Rackspace?

Looking for help/recommendations on my last question please.

I wouldn’t do it based on controller. Create your sounds for each song in individual rackspaces (or in songs using song parts) and route your actual sounds to left or right as desired. Teach the soundman (I’ve been though this more than once with various FOH engineers) to not focus on which keyboard you’re playing.
