Hi. I’m currently using an iConnectAudio4+ in my big keyboard rack. I have a setup where I am using a separate sub-mixer in my rack so I can send a mixed IEM signal (my keys, vox, and FOH) to my IEM. I’d like to migrate that functionality into Performer. My Audio4+ is getting a little long in the tooth and 2 of the inputs appear to have died.
I’m looking for another USB interface that I can use with GP that’s ideally 1/2 rack with at least 4 inputs and 4 or 6 outputs (2 can be via a headphone out). The big thing though is that I want to be able to control the gain/levels/whatever from inside Gig Performer. Little mixers like Behringer Flow8 allow me to control all of the mixer functions via midi. The iConnectivity does not. Are there any other smaller, moderately priced interfaces that allow that?
I do this with an RME UCX (now there is an UCX II), but I am not sure it is what you call a moderate priced audio interface. Mine is more than 10 years old and I never had a regret for this not so moderate investment.
have a look at the focusrite 4i4 and 8i6, have the bigger one, they work great and have loopback so you can mix system sounds into GP too, also has midi which is useful.
How is the latency when you run back thru GP? That’s my main concern about monitoring thru GP is the latency. Also having the ability to route external audio specifically to a secondary pair of outputs (or headphone outs). Also, are you able to access the actual hardware mixer controls via GP?
Has anyone used this utility with the Focusrite interfaces? If it works, it might be a solid solution.
I’m gonna kinda miss the ability to connect 2 computers to the iConnectivity interface (makes plugging the setup at home easier), but stability is way more important than that.
I’m also talking about bringing in my vocals and such from FOH into the interface just to go into my ears. I’d prefer a zero latency in-mixer option. I’ve had issues in the past with my current setup where the lag (even if it’s low) can make singing a bit difficult. At least that’s been my experience with my current interface (iConnectAudio4+ & Mac Mini M1), which is what originally drove me to build an analog solution with an external small mixer velcroed to my keyboard.
Have you ever used the Focusrite Midi app that I linked to earlier? The reason I want to control it from GP is that I want to be able to map the things that are shown in the focusrite app (levels, mute, solo, etc…) to a physical midi controller. To my knowledge, you can’t do anything like that natively with the FR hardware or software.
