I hope you are doing well when you receive this message.
I would like to know how can I just configure the Global Rackspace in order to have all my plug ins there and use them with different changes of sounds for different rackspaces for different songs. In other words, I just want to create a Global Rackspace with all my VSTs and use them with different rackspaces in order to send them program changes from the local rackspaces to change the sounds of the VSTs. Right now, I am duplicating the VSTs in my different local rackspaces and that is taking a lot of time for the computer to load and boot GigPerformer when I double click on the application to open the program.
Hmmm, are you looking to put something like Kontakt in there and then have different sounds loaded and in Kontakt and I guess use different midi channels within on instance of Kontakt?
If all the sounds are loaded into Kontakt (in the Global Rackspace) I don’t know if you are saving much ram.
I think big multi sample libraries use the most ram. So, having difference instances of (for example) pianoteq would not use that much ram.
Or are you looking to have different plugins (Kontakt, IK B3x, Pianoteq, etc.) in the Global Rackspace? And then use them as needed in local rackspaces (Personally I put sample based sounds that I use pretty often in there).
You might want to consider creating smaller gig files including only what is needed for a particular gig.
Some people have all their rackspaces or songs exported and load them in as needed (takes a few seconds, though)/
You also might want to consider Predictive Loading.
(Sorry if I am just creating more confusion for you.)
How much time? Do you have an internet connection active while GP is loading? It could be your plugins are trying (and possibly failing) to connect to remote servers and that is delaying things more than necessary.
A very important reason why everything is pre-loaded is to avoid risk of a load failure DURING a show.
Many plugins don’t support program changes. Further, if you put too many plugins in a single rackspace, your audio thread may not be able to handle them all. Also, you will not be able to leverage instant switching and/or features like patch persist.
What you’re trying to do can certainly be accomplished by using both GPUserPresets and some GPScript code to load the appropriate presets as you switch rackspaces but it will take a bit of effort.
No, I am not using internet to load plug ins. It takes from 1 to 2 minutes. My only concern is that if something goes wrong in the computer and it crashes, it will take 1 to 2 minutes to load the gig file in order to restart performing and that is not affordable in live performance.
I just need to know how can I change the sounds of a VST using Local Rackspaces to send a program change when I switch songs using the local rackspaces
