Multichannel playback

Gents,

I am looking into using GP to playback a 4 channel WAV or OGG file. Each channel would be routed to a separate audio output for mixing at the FOH.

Does anyone have experience or advice on how (if) GP handles audio tracks of greater than 2 channels, or do I have to create multiple files to achieve the number of channels I need? I would prefer to have everything in one file (less to go wrong when triggering), but if that’s not an option I will have to explore other possibilities.

Thanks!
Joe

I think Audio Player cannot deal with multi channel files.

That appears to be the case, Paul.
I will have to create multiple files and play them simultaneously and make sure they are in exact sync.

That should be no problem

Not at all.
But if I could have used one file instead of two I would have preferred that. No biggie.

Out of curiosity, apart from GP, which audio player do you use to play your files?

@Hermon I don’t use any. First time. Our band does everything live, but something is coming up where I have no choice :frowning:

What happens if you break up the file into four separate channels, throw them all into the audio file player and play them all at once? Actually, you would only need two tracks if you use stereo and pan each channel fully left and right. The audio file player lets you route each track to a different audio output

That’s what I’ll wind up doing…I just was holing it could all be in one multitrack file.
In my experience…the less files, the better!
