Hello all,
I recently acquired the Moog Music Model D plugin and use it with the wrapper provided by Moog Music as as VST3 in GP5. It works great until it freezes (only the plugin freezes, no sound is generated). The only way out is to restart GP or simply replace the plugin in the wire diagram by it self; Then it works again until… it freezes again.
I running GP5 on a Mac mini 2023 with M2 silicon and MacOS 14.6.1.
Does anyone has similar issue or suggestion. I’m convinced the problem does come from GP5 but more likely from the plugin or the wrapper from Moog Music.
Thanks for any advice.
Just an idea: did you try to use different (more generic?) AUv3 wrappers? ChatGPT lists some more alternatives.
Unfortunatly NI Komplete does not support AUv3 at the moment (I used this back in the MainStage days, to get vst plugins like the PG-8X running in MS… It was stable).
Well, we have not tested AU3 plugins (with any wrappers) so there is certainly no official support for this.
Yes I am aware the wrapper is not officially supported and that AUv3 neither. I just read back my post and I meant I’m convinced the the problem does NOT come fro GP5 sorry for the confusion. I will other wrapper as suggested by tripleB thanks for the suggestion.
I gave up on this, for the same reason. Never had an issue with the wrapper in Cubase or Logic, but it’s a no go in GP.
I now use the Arturia version.
Yup, for the price Moog have made a very good plugin for iPads and its good on some desktop daws, but there are much better moogy options for GP use. The Legend is my favorite of them all both sonically and GUI-wise, and its not the worst CPU hog either.
The newest version of Mini from Arturia caught up with the others this year, wouldn’t mind using that. Softube’s Model 72 I’d want to like more but the GUI is pretty ugly and the CPU usage is higher.
Have you tried their new version, The Legend Hz
Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely try the Legend one.
I already have the Arturia but actually not tried that much yet…
Thanks everyone for your replies and good advices
Yeah, I did download the demo right when it came out and spend some hours playing around. Very impressive stuff especially for more advanced sound design, I loved the MSEG and the clear routing system. Propably the main reason for not spending my money right away was having recently acquired a new HW synth that I wanted to explore more thoroughly with my spare time. And for the bread-and-butter stuff the standard version is ideal. But maybe one day, at least the price is not too much for standard license owners…
(And now I remembered: The HW synth I mentioned happens to be Korg opsix, a six-operator FM synth which can also be turned into a six oscillator virtual analog with the user algorithm function. So I have similar routing versatility, actually a lot more, to explore. Enough for this year)
