Mike + The Mechanics - Another Cup of Coffee

It took a while until I realized that many of the famous sounds I liked were actually presets on the instruments from the eighties and nineties.
The first one that comes to my mind is

Mike + The Mechanics - Another Cup of Coffee:

The rackspace is too simple to upload - all you need is the KORG Wavestation VST (or the real one) with preset 10 “Fire Dance” of RAM 1 loaded.

The chords played at 138 BPM are:

I think if you dive into Yamaha’s DX7 the list get’s much longer

Prince was known for always using presets, sometimes with effects after the original sound.

I didn’t know that.

That would be something I have in common with Prince. Probably the only one…

Don’t see the link to your rack space.

There ist no link.

I was able to create it myself with the wavestate vst and preset 10 “Fire Dance” when I look at the image. It’s just that the tempo of the effect isn’t right for me.

I think that would be a great resource.

A list where those who know exactly what keyboards, not necessarily the exact presets, was used on songs up through the years would be very welcome.

You’re right, the preset is “Fire Dance”. If you play that preset at 140 bpm it sounds correct.
I don’t know the original Wavestation Keyboard that well but on the plugin I don’t seem to find an option to sync the tempo of the wave sequences to the host. In fact I can’t find a tempo adjustment at all. :person_shrugging:

In the GLOBAL menu you can switch WAVE SEQUENCE SYNC on or off.

That’s true, I just had a second look, thanks!
