I know that GP does not yet generate and send MIDI time code, but does it pass time code through it’s MIDI ins and outs? Are there any settings that need to be addressed to make this happen?
I have a drum machine that I want to send time code FROM through GP and into another external keyboard with a sequencer. I’m sending MIDI note information through GP (if I play a drum note on the drum machine it will trigger a note on the keyboard) and I can see midi information in the MIDI monitor. However, when I put the sequencer in external MIDI clock mode and start the drum machine, the sequencer doesn’t start.
I did verify that the sequencer will start if I connect the drum machine directly to the keyboard with the sequencer.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
Thank you for this link. It may prove very helpful at some point. It’s a great article but not exactly what I’m hoping to do. I’m not seeking to have GP sync with an external clock, I want GP to pass an external clock via midi on to another external device.
I’m hoping to avoid another application to install to drive the midi clock.
When you say “pass” it would imply that something else is generating the clock.
There should be only one midi clock generator in your entire setup. GP can react to midi clock but will not generate nor pass it.
A hardware clock generator or any of many small midi clock apps can be used but think about newer tech that’s fully supported by GP as well like Ableton Link if possible
@djogon yes, I was hoping to have the drum machine generate midi clock, send it in to GP so that GP could respond, but also pass it through a midi out so that other external devices could also sync to it.
I’ll look for a midi time clock app to see if that works for me.
