Midi ports don't show up and don't work

Hi everybody! I’m just trying out GP. I have it installed on 2 machines:

  1. an old MBP 2012 patched to Sonoma with Open Core Legacy Patcher
  2. a brand new MBP 2024 with Sonoma

Midiports of my controllers show up and work on MBP 1 but they don’t show up on MBP 2.
The midi controllers however work in other applications such as Cubase or Arturia Stage 73 even on machine 2.

Do I have to change any system setting?

What audio/midi interface are you using? Are the drivers native? Are you running GP natively or via Rosetta? Same question for your other applications.
Can you post a screenshot of the MIDI ports shown in GP’s options?
Can you post a screen shot showing the MIDI devices in your Audio MIDI Setup?

Hi @unifaun

You’ve come to the right place.

Seeing as @dhj has beat me to it, I’ll let him get his teeth into it…

Welcome to the best software community ever… Any problem is sorted out in a jiffy!

Feel free to join in…sometimes it takes different experiences to figure out what is going on.

I haven’t experienced this problem so I wouldn’t even know where to start looking…
:confused::confused:

GP is running natively
Cubase and Logic are also running natively

Asking again…

At the moment I’m running it directly via the built-in speakers/headphones!

My audiointerface is a Steinberg UR22 Mk 2 I which I use just for Audio.

OK - so how are your MIDI devices connected to your computer?

By usb port

I’ve also tried the other usb ports - no change

Just a Double check, when you enable IAC Driver, do you see it in Gig Performer MIDI Ports?

In your Audio MIDI settings, I can see the MIDI interface but it doesn’t look like it’s connected to anything. Have you tried creating a “keyboard” block in Audio MIDI settings and connecting it to that interface?

I’ve just changed the GP app in “opening with rosetta” and…

it finally works!

Is anybody here running GP under macOS Sonoma in native mode?

IAC driver isn’t connected on both machine

You should not have to run under Rosetta. Assuming you downloaded the universal version, GP runs just fine (actually incredibly well) in native Apple Silicon.
Something is not configured properly

I installed the universal version and it does not work on my M3 pro MacBook Pro.

The same version works fine on my Intel Mac without problems.

That’s what I assume as well but I can’t find a solution that’s why I’m here.

Can you activate the IAC driver?
it is just a test if GP sees that.

On my Mac Intel 2018 I sometime have issue with my S88 MK2 connected via USB-C at boot time.
Workaround is to disconnect the USB-C cable and connect again.
Did you try that?
How are you controllers connected to you M3 Mac?
BUT: you said that Cubase on your M3 Mac sees the MIDI controllers?
