Midi finger tap

I noticed in one of the backstage with gig performer videos with the amazing Bret - David (dhj) had a brief appearance demonstrating a feature called midi finger tap.
It might also have been in a separate shorter video with just David demonstrating his setup.
This feature seemed to control the tempo of some backing track as David was alternating (tapping) two keyboard controller keys.

I hope to open a discussion about this since it is extremely interesting. I will also RTFM to cover all my grounds.
But I am wondering how are users using this feature?
What have your experiences with it have been?
Any tips and tricks about it to figure out?
I am hoping to hear from other users regarding this amazing feature.
Does it work just with midi or also with audio?
The name implies it is just for midi but knowing gp I wouldn’t be surprised to well be surprised.
I’ll search the manual now.

Ok. I guess it’s simpler and more straightforward than I thought.
Basically step forward is a parameter of the midi file player.
We assign that to 1 or 2 keys and then tap away to have our midi file “step” through the midi file based on our tapping speed.
Thank you @npudar for the resources. Those are the exact videos I was referring to and that’s how I heard about this feature from dhj
