MIDI file related GP crash

Hi.

Here is a midifile which crashes GP immediately upon being dragged into the MFP.

_All of Me- 131 BPM - x5.zip (1.5 KB)

The problem began after I added a sysex message to the file, like so:

Previously to that, the file and GP operated fine together.

Even worse, after this crash, the Gig file in which it took place could no longer be loaded in GP without causing an immediate crash.

As it happens, a good bit of recent work is in that latest Gig file. If there is any way to make that latest Gig file reload without crashing, please advise.

FWIW, the .mid file above still opens fine in both GNMIDI and MIDIopsy.

Here is the crashing Gig file, in case that is of any help.

SJ_MFP_Test_02(3).gig (2.8 MB)

What is the problematic rackspace?

Try to remove the MIDI File from your disk.
Then you should be able to load your gig file.

Here’s the gig file with an empty MIDI File Player

That .mid file crashes the MidiEditor app also, and Reaper refuses to import it.

In case you don’t already know, the problem with your sysex is you can’t have the F3 in the middle of a sysex.

It might be good for the GP midi file player to handle corrupt midi files without crashing, though.

Actually that probably won’t work. Nebojsa was rather cute with MIDI and midifiles are actually stored in the gigfile

Besides that, I’m missing an F7?

Thanks everybody! Got my work back. :grinning:

Can anyone suggest a good method (program/editor) that will easily allow placing a Song Select message into a MIDI file?
