MIDI File Player - What Sounds Do You Use?

Hi.

I’m interested in where people send the output of their MIDI File Player.

IOW, what do you use for your multi-timbral sounds when playing back a MIDI file?

Of most interest would be any plugin(s) that are one-stop-shops for playing back GM compatible MIDI files (if such exist).

But even if it’s hardware, or a collection of soft-synth on different channels, I’m sure there are many ways GP users realize MIDI file playback, and I think it would be nice to catalog some of them here.

Thanks!

I’ve used the inexpensive Purity plugin for playback — but normally I’ll route the drums to Battery or to EZ Drummer if I need them

The question opens the door to a deep cavern!

I guess the first question is “what sounds do you want to make?” The second is “ How much do you plan to spend.” :sunglasses:

You could use one of the multitimbral VSTis like Kontakt, SampleTank, Korg Triton (Extreme) or UVI Workstation and inside create a Multi instrument conforming to the GM standard.
