First, a huge thanks to David and Nebojsa for this simply fantastic live-performance program! Secondly, Big Up to this community of users who take valuable time generously posting and hosting threads of valuable info. GP has got to already be one of the most highly supported software programs of all times. As a keyboardist/vocalist who has been full-time quite a few decades with tech in live performance, I cannot overstate how pleased I am with everything GP!
GP seems to have a natural structure designed around audio. But over the years I’ve built a huge library of midi-based performances which include lighting & FX, around MIDI hardware. Hardware inevitably becomes obsolete or simple wears out having to be replaced over time, so my strategy has been to gradually transition to more software-based system while disturbing the performance schedule as little as possible…my bread & butter. The next step would be make audio files from my MIDI tracks and scrap the outboard tone generators. GP seems to have more facility with Audio,
After much prep and homework, I’m in the second week of actually using GP on stage in my solo and weekend band gigs. Currently up to almost 90 Songs but having unresolved sticky issues…and I need help!
It’s probably better to break this down into separate posts, so I’ll start with the Midi File Player
Using Midi tracks extensively on solo gigs, how can I stop MIdi File Player from stopping every time a variation or song part is switched? Seems like I’m missing something very simple. Subsequently unable to utilize valuable Setlist features. Should I be making sure that the “stop” in Midi File Player is NOT enabled when moving between Songparts or Variations? GP is synced with my controller key pads enabling the stop/start points and so I can see at a glance the current widget status.
It would be very nice to have the choice of more that 1 set of loop points per file in Midi File Player. Hoping that’s a feature that will soon, if not already exist. Being able to spontaneously loop sections is an important part of my solo performance.
Thanks is advance for your kind attention and advice.

I’m receiving the following on trying to upload the midi file: Sorry, the file you are trying to upload is not authorized (authorized extensions: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, mp4, gig, rackspace, gppanel, txt, pdf, mp3, wav, zip).
In your rackspace there is a big green button widget labeled “PL/ST”
In the variation “Get Down On It (Em)” it is activated.
In the Variation “Ladies Night (C+m7)” it is not.
This widget is linked to the MIDI File Player Parameter “Play”, no wonder the MIDI File player stops when you select “Ladies Night”.
I think best would be to set the property “Ignore Variations” for this Widget.
I get the general thrust of what you’re saying. Understanding that widget is what start/stops the player. I’ll have to load things up and experiment. I need to have the start/stop active at the entire song start/end.
Just not sure yet which variation needs the “ignore variation”
My rackspaces are pretty junky, currently and just starting to be cleaned up & ordered so that once I have initial parameters adjusted, they’ll hopefully only display at optimal size, what absolutely need to be seen/adjusted on stage. Only other concern would be RAM optimization and system stability.
One would think so. I started using GP live for the first time, last week. The fact that I was experiencing stuck notes 2 nights in succession on last weeks solo’s and had to shut down and reboot my entire rig twice on last Thursday’s band gig…something I’ve previously never experienced in 40 years of computer usage on stage is a pretty reliable indication that something is wrong. So, I’m checking everything…MIDI controller, pedal board, powered USB, supply, laptop, rackspaces…Last night’s solo was trouble-free. Finger’s crossed for tonight but I’ve been going through my rackspaces cleaning up and looking for possible issues
