I guess I’ll be finding out the answer soon enough as I have already ordered the upgrade to GP4 but was curious if the MIDI File player has it’s own built in sounds
A MIDI file does not have any sounds. It simply has information about the “tracks” like notes played, PitchBend and CC messages, possibly instrument patches to use … Which plugins you use to play that back is up to you.
You can use a GM MIDI player which should play any midi file or you can say just enable or load a drum track into our MIDI file player and connect it to any drum sampler plugin to play it back.
Yes I do know that a midi file does not have any sounds. I only was curious if a GM MIDI player was included to play the files.
I tried Steinberg’s “Halion Sonic SE” as a sound source for MIDI-files and it worked pretty well:
@ahutnik, as the name says a MIDI File Player is included
Good suggestion Thanks!
Oops what I meant was a MIDI File Player with built in sounds. Thanks for correcting me on that pianopaul. Looking forward to playing with GP4 when it’s released
We all look forward
SonicCat’s “Purity” plugin is a decent GM player.
Wow, that’s funny. I didn’t know that this plug-in is still available. I endorsed it in Germany when I was 15 years old and the manufacturer was called “Luxonix” back then. But I haven’t heard anything about it for 15 years and didn’t think the product would still be alive
Indeed it’s a really decent GM player. Thanks for the link!!
Please thank @dhj - he found out and told me about it. He’s the source of all my MIDI and Keyboard “wisdom”
