Manage CC numbers in GP

Hi, have a question regarding CC number in Gig Performer. It is possible to add these yourself if you want to handle more. My Kurzweil PC4 handles up to 183 CC numbers. When you select over number 127 in Gig Performer, it lights up red as it does not load as example no: 149.

Welcome @Swedkarla!
Are you sure you mean CC numbers? I’ve not heard of the MIDI spec supporting Control Change numbers past 127. You didn’t mean Program Change?

If you open Gig Performer’s Global MIDI Monitor (Window menu), what does it show when you send those messages?

@Swedkarla The Kurzweil CCs above 127 are Kurzweil internal only! U can use them only inside your PC4.

MIDI can only handle up to 127 (7bit limit)! Therfore they are not available in GP.

Greetings from a Kurzweil Forte SE user

Thanks for that clarification. I was rather baffled by the existence of CC numbers beyond 127

As I can see in the MIDI implementation there is no controller higher than 127.

@pianopaul have a look at the table starting in section 7-20 - Kurzweil logic: the controller destinations are mapped to MIDI CCs up to 127 - the controllers above are only available internal in the parameter/function mapping… Kurzweil mixes up here MIDI CC and CONTROLLERS

PS: the non accessible 149 is annoying me too

Thanks for all the answers, then I got a clarity in this. Has started playing again after a 23 year hiatus and is learning everything new. It’s interesting and fun!

@Swedkarla totally understand, I had a “gap” of 10+ years some years ago and the instruments and SW moved quite fast and forward
Sometimes I’m also thinking much too complicated or in old structures I have to break with new possibilities and conditions

The MIDI Standard is 7bit and therefore limited to values from 0-127
The misunderstanding is that the Controller Number above 127 is not a MIDI CC number.

Look at my posts above

Sure, I wanted to clarify for @Swedkarla
