MacBook Pro M1 and Akai MPK 249 Compatibility

Can anyone help me? I cannot seem to get any response from my MacBook Pro M1 to my Akai MPK 249

Tell us more! How does your connection look like, what ‘responses’ do you miss? Audio/MIDI?
Is your Gig Performer setup running OK with a different controller / Audio interface?

When I had it connected to my older MacBook that recently died everything worked perfectly. Now I can’t get it to recognize my midi controller. And for some reason my MacBook doesn’t allow me an option for downloading a midi downloader

Do you use a USB hub?

What was your previous operating system?
What is your current operating system?
Did you try with another controller?

You need to describe this better. Is there an error?

My previous setup was directly plugged into my 2019 MacBook Pro and the laptop recognized the akai mpk 239 controller. I do not have a USBHUB. Would you know if there is any midi updater I could download? The one Akai suggested doesn’t correspond with my laptop. Sorry I’m still very new to midi

It would be great if you responded to all the questions asked

Have you upgraded your firmware for Apple Silicon compatibility?

No I didn’t update anything. The new laptop I purchased is a 2023 MacBook Pro M1 sequoia 15.0
This new laptop doesn’t recognize my akai mpk249
My old laptop a 2019 MacBook Pro worked perfectly fine without any upgrade download it connected and recognized my akai

Like I mentioned I am not tech savvy so not sure what I need to do to get it to work with my akai. Currently it doesn’t show anything but local GP port for Midi

This is a direct connection

Here’s what I am running as far as my laptop system

Looks like possibly a firmware update needed?

The only issue with that is there isn’t a way to update that firmware because the MacOS 15 doesn’t support and recognize the updater that is provided with the firmware download link:( I’m hoping someone has another solution to fix this

Have you contacted Akai?

Yes, and it should automatically show up but as you can see theee is nothing there

So after doing some research I’ve come to find out it’s a technical issue on Akai’s end that aha yet to be addressed. So the only option around this issue for now is a USB Hub or USB Port. I will keep everyone updated on what comes of it. Thank you for all the support :call_me_hand:t5:
