Hello there,
Hope everything is having a great time
I’m trying to have my expression pedal to react to Omnisphere 2 without success.
I have it plugged on my Roland A-800 (into the expression pedal spot), it reacts a little bit but weirdly.
Do you have any tips ?
Thank you
How did you exactly try that?
Check in the midi monitor if there is a constant change of values when you move your pedal.
The values should also match somehow the physical position of the pedal.
Maybe you’d have to switch the polarity of the pedal’s cable (switch ring vs. tip of the plug).
By just wishing something happens when I push it
This indeed happened
OK I try that !
Thanks guys
Did you wish enough?
Honestly yes, but I loose patience with the MOOG EP-3… Often some problems !
I’ve struggled with a lot of those pedals in the past.
Eventually I ended up with a rather expensive expression pedal from Mission Engineering but it has been absolutely flawless and reliable when touring.
I have a Yamaha FC7 as old as my DX7 and it still works flawlessly.
Could you elaborate this detail a bit more?
I simulated a wrong poled pedal on my A-800 keyboard by using a small “inverter cable” which does exactly that (inverting the tip/sleeve connection).
The result i could see in the midi monitor was the following…
If the polarity is right then the pedal, when in bottom position, sends constant values from 0 up to 127, at “full throttle” of the pedal’s position.
If the polarity is inverted, i get values starting from 56 to 127 in about the first 1/5 (or even less) of the pedal movement - all the way up from more than 1/5 of the pedal movement there are no more value changes.
So this would be what i would call “weird”. What is your’s?
Oh, and do you use a widget to connect the pedal with the plugin’s parameter or did you try to map the pedal directly in the plugin? That might be an imposrtant information too…
Yes, exactly, first of all I would like to see what the Global MIDI monitor display when the pedal is moved from min to max…
I use the Moog EP-3. The biggest problem I have with it is the switch on the bottom will accidentally get switched to “Other” from “standard”. At this position I usually only get 1/2 pedal response. Also, you have to be careful with the setting of the fine adjustment knob on the side. Other than that it usually works very smooth.
