Learn Mode not working (GP 2.0.15)

Hello, I just downloaded GP. I am trying to map a knob using the Learn Mode. I followed the video and the instruction guide. I hit “Learn” button and it shows the Kontakt. I proceeded to move the volume in Kontakt but the knob widget does not move.

Did you enable host automation for the control in Kontakt? Host automation is not enabled by default in Kontakt (which is a nuisance) so you have to do it yourself.

Which video were you following?

Thanks for the reply. How do I enable host automation in Kontakt?

I also use Ravenscroft, Alicia Keys, MODO Bass, and Korg M1 (VST). They all so not respond to Learn Mode.

I watched the video on the GP website. It looks simple but it doesn’t work my computer. I must be missing a step.

By the way, I like the program so far. I just cannot “Learn”.

I found the host automation in Kontakt.

My other problem is, the Learn Mode in the Properties does not respond to physical knob. I can assign a knob in the Global MIDI.

Three possibilities

  1. Your MIDI controller events are not making it into Gig Performer. Open the global midi monitor in Gig Performer (from the Windows menu) and confirm that MIDI events are in fact being received.

  2. You have already assigned that particular controller message as a global MIDI control, making it unavailable for use by widgets

  3. Hmm, I can’t count, only two possibilities ?

Thanks David. I found the culprit. My NanoKontrol 1st fader is sending CC0. The second fader is sending CC1 (this one worked). So I changed the faders CC messages. It all work now. The more I use it, the more I like it. Really easy on CPU compared to Mainstage.

Yeah — CC0 is a “bank switch” message, related to program changes, and so does not get passed on to the rest of the system.
