Let me go through my scenario and tell me what I am doing wrong plz:
Rackspace #2 is using Keyscape with “LA Custom C7 - Softest” on MIDI Channel 4. I name the Rackspace “Yamaha C7”
When I do a program change (PC#2) from my controller, GigPerformer quickly switches to the appropriate KeyScape patch but it is very loud.
So, I click on Edit Mode and insert a Blue knob and select my Yamaha C7 Plugin. A list of numbers from 0-511 appear in the parameter area. I assume they are CC numbers and therefore “7” means CC7 or Volume.
So I do an experiment as follows : I click on “7” in the parameter list, exit edit mode and try the Volume control. No dice. So I renter edit mode, click on my volume knob and
click on Learn then at which time the Keyscape’s GUI appears and I move the volume slider in the top right … but the GigPerformer Volume knob does not move. I exit edit mode and try the volume knob. Still no dice. I play with a few more variations on this theme, but still no dice!
Now I try the MIDI Learn button and move my volume slider on my MIDIBoard, Voila the volume control moves. Yay!
It seems that there is a problem with Keyscape. I am also having the same problem with Uhe’s Zerbra2
No, those are not CC numbers (MIDI CC numbers only go from 0 to 127). Those are host ID numbers for use with host automation, which is the preferred way to deal with this stuff anyway.
What you should do is
Add a widget to your rackspace
In the widget properties, select the Keyscape plugin and press Learn
Click/move the parameter in Keyscape that controls the volume and the widget will now control that parameter
Optionally, you can have that widget be controlled by a knob or dial on your MIDI controller.
By the way, another option is to insert a Gig Performer Gain Control plugin between your Keyscape and the output and control the volume there.
The problem is in your step #3 …IE: while in Learn mode, I click/move Keyscape’s volume slider and my GigPerformer widget does not move. I am using GP V2.4 which I believe was supposed to fix problems with VST3s. I think I need to online tech support?
Hi Phil,
i took a brief look into the manual of Keyscape and there is a lot of stuff about MIDI-learning and automation (also how to get a list of the automation ID numbers).
You could also try to “unlearn” the volume slider first and the re-learn it with your knob, maybe this helps?
Yep … In Keyscape I can easily learn my MIDIboard’s volume control using the Keyscape learn mode and then moving my volume fader on my MIDIboard. Keyscape has no problem there … but, for some reason I can’t get Keyscape and GigPerformer talking to each other on the MIDI level as far as MIDI controllers go.GigPerformer also has no problem with my MIDIboard in learn mode.
David did help me with a similar problem with VB3-II which is a VST3 plugin. Apparently there was a known GigPerformer bug that did not like VST3s. The bug was corrected in V2.4, butI wonder if this problem is unique but similar to that one?
