Keyboard controlling

I’m looking to use the on-board voices of the Yamaha PSR-EW410 and send them out to Gig Performer. Use them to set my rackspaces and then send them back to the same keyboard. So I want to use Gig Performer to control my keyboard. How do I do this? Is it possible?

If so, the next question how to set a pedal up to step thru the rackspaces?

Any help would be great!

Hi @dpo, welcome to the family

Do you want to step to the next rackspace by pressing a foot switch?

In the global MIDI assignments you can map your controller to different actions

For my understanding:
you want to send Audio to Gig Performer and send back to your Keyboard?
So you want to use GP as an effect board?

Hi !, yes I think so - I am somewhat new to this and the terminology. Instead of using a plugin such as kontakt I want to use the voices that are available on the Yamaha.

OK, really?
Why send back Audio to your Keyboard?

I am playing show books and I would like to use gig performer to set each voice change as I move thru the score. Does that make sense?

I do not understand.
You want switch programs via GP?
Show scores via GP and switch sounds on your Keyboard for example at bar 20 and bar 45 etc?

yes start with violins at the top of a tune and switch to trombone at m10 etc.

OK and why send audio from your PSR to GP and back?

I’m looking for a way to control the keyboard during a fast moving performance. most often you do not have enough time to make the changes at the keyboard manually. Certainly not with splits etc…

Yes, but why sending audio to GP and back?
What you need is sending MIDI Data to PSR to switch sounds at the correct position of the song.

@pianopaul is trying to point out that you’re getting confused about audio vs MIDI….you can feed your audio from our keyboard into GP if you want, for example to add effects to your audio and or to mix it with other sounds.

But that has nothing to do with the use of MIDI to control stuff.

Yes I admit that I am confused.
I guess what I am asking for is step by step solution.
Can you tell me what that would be?

Sounds like you’re trying to jump in the deep end before you have gotten up to speed with the basic concepts. Consider watching some of our YouTube videos and learning to create some basic rackspaces, routing midi and audio etc

all i wanted to know: is it possible to use the rackspaces in gig performer to control the yamaha psr-ew410 without an added plug-in for the voices. so using the onboard voices of the keyboard.

I think a relatively easy question to answer.???

instead got blocked. are you working for gig performer???

You probably got blocked automatically by the system which controls how often a new user can post in a short period of time – that’s simply a mechanism to reduce/eliminate spam. Over time, the discourse system automatically promotes users to “regular” once it determines they are not spammers.

Several people already tried to answer you but your questions made it clear that you were not that familiar with the differences between audio and MIDI (as you acknowledged yourself).

That is why we suggested that it would be helpful to get up to speed with basic concepts first.

This is an example of the confusion — you do not “set rackspaces” with voices from another keyboard. You set rackspaces by sending MIDI messages.

Yes, that is the automatic procedure by this community software. I’ve just increased your privileges since you are not a spammer. No auto-blocking any more.

Easy.
