Jonny Roberts is the keyboardist for the progressive metal band Surrender to Eden.
Jonny’s multifaceted career spans genres, from jazz and blues to rock, but it’s progressive metal that truly ignites his passion. Inspired by bands like Dream Theater, Symphony X, DGM, and Devin Townsend, Jonny weaves intricate melodies and harmonies that push the boundaries of musical expression.
For over two decades, Jonny has been a beacon of knowledge, sharing his expertise as a classical piano teacher and music theory guru. Jonny firmly believes in the transformative power of music, and he relishes the challenges that progressive compositions present.
Jonny’s journey took a pivotal turn when he joined the popular progressive metal band, Shadow Image. As a core member, he graced stages across the globe, opening for renowned acts like Symphony X and Kamelot.
Beyond the stage, Jonny embraces technology. His transition to a soft synth setup built around Gig Performer, leveraging the capabilities of computer-based sound libraries, reflects his adaptability and forward-thinking approach.

Surrender to Eden is a progressive melodic power metal band, based out of central New Jersey. The band was founded in 2019 by lead vocalist Jon St. John.

After a brief shut down due the Covid 19 pandemic the band reemerged in 2023 only this time with lead guitarist, Ron Michalski, and drummer, Russ Lamater.
All three had previously worked together in another original project called Samarian. In the search of two additional members to complete their sound, the band came across bassist, Michael Bosi, and Keyboardist, Jonny Roberts- two matches made in heaven-their sound was now complete.
The combination of the melodic piano orchestrated pieces, the soaring lead guitar work and nuances that scream storyline, and the heart pumping drum rhythms and intricate poly rhythms, along with the soaring vocals and melodic content, bring a unique brand of rock opera/music theater.
Their sound is reminiscent to bands such as Dream Theater, Queensrÿche, Kamelot, and Symphony X as sources of inspiration, but brings a unique powerful flavor that is new and fresh allowing the music compositions to have lives of their own.
