I’ve been playing around with this effects plugin – pretty sophisticated and certainly requires some learning time but it’s really nice — best part is that it doesn’t suck up any CPU cycles when there’s no audio to process.
Fortunately it’s also got decent host parameter control so you’re not stuck with just automating a few macro knobs.
New in Infiltrator 2: use the MIDI CC effect module to output Infiltrator’s envelopes as MIDI CC data, which (host software permitting) can be routed to control external effects and synths!
is this, “send midi CC out to other FX” working within GP ?
How would one proceed ? (routing)
Well, most plugin synths accept MIDI (otherwise you couldn’t play them at all!) so you could just connect Infiltrator MIDI output to the plugin MIDI input.
Sending Infiltrator to external synths can be done using a MIDI Out block.
You could also send MIDI to scriptlets and then use parameter mapping with widget groups to control synths via host automation.
And of course you can leverage the GP4 local port to control widgets that are then mapped to parameters.
Actually, in this particular case, the first approach (just sending MIDI messages from Infiltrator directly to a plugin) seems like the easiest approach - not sure why widgets need to be involved in that process since Infiltrator is controlling the automation anyway.
i still need to look into this.
so far any quick test with plugins that (should) send out midi data, ended with no result.
I never found out what the stumbling block was, for me.
so, thats all still a open chapter for me, vs. GP
having the widgets inbetween would become interesting or even necessary vs. creating morphcontrols, or vs. gaining some control over sayed CC coming from the plugin.
( i have here automaticly modular Synth type of thinking shemes in my brain)
Well, I don’t know enough about Infiltrator (haven’t looked at the manual) to know what it can send out via MIDI - I just saw that it had a MIDI output pin on the block.
However, I have used Thesys from SugarBytes which can also send out MIDI and there’s no problem.
Here’s a video of that example –
