I would like to use Gig Performer to prototype and experiment with sound design, with the intention of ultimately moving the resulting plugin configurations to a project in my DAW.
However, I notice that Gig Performer is capable of importing FXB and FXP files, but not exporting them. As far as I can see, it is also not capable of importing or exporting VSTPRESET files, which seems to be the preferred format for VST3 plugins, at least in my DAW.
Are there any plans to add generic export capability for presets that would allow users to import them in a DAW?
(For now, to get around this, I would have to host my plugins inside a Bidule plugin inside Gig Performer in order to get export functionality.)
Not quite – solely as a convenience, GP has a shortcut to invoke the plugin’s support for FXB files to save you from having to open the actual plugin editor in question but the plugin itself has have support for import and export of those files in which case you can generally just open the plugin itself and use its built-in functionality.
That said, @pianopaul is correct that if you want to use a plugin preset in some other DAW then you should use the plugin’s own preset management to export its presets in whatever format it wants (often proprietary) and then import them again in another DAW
