I have a number of great plugins that I’m really happy with. The B-3X is no exception sonically, but now that I’ve got a few rack spaces built with it, it is slow to load, a little rickety while being edited and has caused a couple of freezes and crashes when open for editing.
I recall reading something about this here at one point. All of my other plugs are rock solid, but this one is the crazy uncle. I’m worried about a crash when live. Maybe I should look at Cherry Audio Blue? Hate that, as I love the IK sound.
Unfortunately, that’s generally not that useful – GP pushes the envelope more than most DAWs so the fact that a plugin might work ok with other hosts does not mean that the problem is not in the plugin. Unfortunately plugin developers (yes, even the ones used by “famous” companies) sometimes make assumptions that they shouldn’t make and that’s generally when one sees an issue.
We’d have to see the crash report to be certain. If it was five years ago, the probability of their being a bug in GP related to plugins would have been much higher – these days, it’s extremely rare to see a plugin crash that turns out to be a GP bug (and when that happens, we address it fast)
Yes. But I still think it’s a valid question to ask if a plug-in is functioning properly in other applications. Another good question I think to ask would be is how much storage space is left on the hard drive
With my MacBookPro B3X is slow to load the first time. But I never had a crash. And I use it a lot. I think that Leslie simulation is the best in the market. In the past I used an hardware Hammond clone (Viscount Legend) as a source for Leslie by IK Multimedia. Results were amazing
I bought Blue3 and installed yesterday. First tests were not as good as expected. I think B3X sounds much better… Leslie on IK plugin is really convincing.
Never had stuck notes with NI Control S61 mk II.
Since few weeks I am using Korg Keystage, same good results.
With Arturia Keylab 61 mkII I had huge problems with stuck notes, so I sold it after many tests and reports to Arturia.
I really liked my S61 Mk II which was still perfectly good when I replaced it with a Mk III because it supported polyphonic aftertouch instead of just channel aftertouch. The Mk III also did away with the Machine-specific buttons, which I never used.
