How are Song Parts Affected if I delete a Rackspace

If I delete a full rackspace, how does that effect songs/songparts.

Let’s say I delete rackspace Number 218.

It does not renumber all rackspaces after it, does it?

Does it just keep 218 blank? It doesn’t effect song parts linked to subsequent rackspaces, does it?

I am deleting a rackspace I only use for one song (actually I have better sounds in an existing rackspace). I just want to make sure I do not create a problem for myself, so I’d like to understand this before I proceed.

Unless you have specifically assigned a PC to variations in a rackspaces, the rackspace numbers will shift if you delete a rackspace. However, song parts are associated with specific rackspace/variations–they aren’t associated by a variation’s PC number. So, there’s no problem there with what you want to do.

It’s a good practice to make a copy of your gig file and experiment with things you’re unsure of until you’re confident with the changes. That way you’ll have a backup.

No, I don’t use PC numbers. So, I should not have a problem.

But I will save a backup of the Gig file before I delete the rackspace just in case.
