Hello as I was reading the manual I found a feature I didnt know of and its 9 and 10 in the pic. My band is getting ready to do tempo tracks for our pre pro demos and having this tell me all our tempos and signatures would be a big time saver. I use gp for live vox and keys so far what would be the way to utilize this? Bring in a recording to gp? Ty
There are multiple ways to set and store tempo/time information. Which way(s) you choose will be determined by how you are using GP.
You can set that information per rackspace in the Rackspace Properties:
You can also set that info per Song in Setlist view using Song properties:
You can even change the info per song part in Song Part Properties:
Oh ok so you have to put the tempos in? I was thinking it could tell the tempos of what was being played through it. We dont know them all and are going to have to sit and map out all the parts for the click tracks. These are 10 min long metal songs so not an easy task. If gp could real time show the tempos and time signatures while we play or being fed a live recording it would save us hrs figuring them out. Ty ill keep seeing what I find
There’s no beat/time signature detection built-in, no. There are other apps for that kind of thing.
@Frank1119 devised a clever way of at least getting BPM info from an instrument.
You might be able to adapt it to suit some of your needs.
Try SongMaster or SongMaster Pro. You can download fully functional trials, they just cut you off after 15 minutes.
In 15 minutes you can easily load a song and have it analyze the tempo track for you. If it’s a steady tempo for the whole song you’re done. Close it, restart, do the next song. With modern metal I think a lot of it is recorded to a click, so you might only need one tempo per song.
If you find it useful and want to export stems or a tempo track you can decide if it’s worth the price.
Thanks all our recordings are just live in the room demos. We are now sitting down to make the tempo tracks to track to a click. I will look at that software
Yay — someone read the manual ![]()
Something it appears you might be missing. Once you get your tempos entered, you can use the metronome in GP to provide a click track.
Also, if you have a Native Instruments bundle, you can import all of your recordings into the DJ software and it will calculate tempos for all of the songs. And it’s fairly dependable.
