Do we need an hardware device from line6 to benefit from this?

I though the Helix Native plugin is essentially useful for those without line6 hardware… 
It is $70 for hardware owners, $175 or $150 for POD Farm owners (depending on version) and $200 for everybody else.
Hardware owners may benefit , not so much for live performance but for DAW use where they can record a dry signal and then apply Helix effects via the VST versus recording the processed sound from the hardware.
I’ve been using POD Farm since 2008 when I bought the UX2, I no longer use the hardware but do use the plugin for all my guitar sounds… maybe time for an upgrade? Hmmm.
Yeah the HD versions are the bomb…well especially for clean anyway; miss the Cali 94 though…one of the best models…ever 
Vox is still not nailed…well really by anyone…although Avid on Eleven Rack is pretty good
