Hardware transport controls

Hi, do you use the transport controls (play, record, stop etc) on your hardware controller in conjuction with gigperformer? If so, how do you use them?

I’m considering to explore the midi and/or audio players, and would be interesting to hear if the hardware buttons could be utilized to control the playback. I’m also curious if there are other useful examples on how these buttons can be used in a live performance situation. For me, they are just sitting there, looking back at me…

Cheers

What hardware are you talking about?

I have an iRig Keys I/O 49 and a Komplete Kontrol S61 (1st gen). But these are just examples, hoping for a general explanation and examples on if and how these transport control buttons can be used in GP. I’m using the Rig Manager and most commonly I use either one of these controllers together with a Studiologic SL 73 Studio for weighted keys.

I am using S88 start and stop controls to start and stop global play in Gig Performer.
This can be done by mapping of this control in the global MIDI options.

Thanks Paul!
And when starting/stopping global play using the buttons, you can set up the audio or midi players to follow, right? I have to explore this further.
I tried once a while ago to map the transport controls to next/previous song part but I failed and didn’t have the time then to see it through. I just used two drum pads on the iRig for that instead which worked straight away. The pads send note on/off (I think this can be changed to cc messages). The control knobs I guess send cc messsges? Never needed to know since they map easily using midi learn.
But the start/stop/record buttons use some other protocol? Trying to learn something here from all the expertice in the forum :grinning:
