GP controlling Ableton CLIPS

Hey, GPs!

I have a query I just can’t get my head around.

OK… So I use GP to select clips in Ableton Session View… All is fine and I just press play on my controller and off we go…
So. I have a song in GP with 3 variations under the song title “Rumbas” and variation titles, Rumbas 01, 02 & 03.

Within Ableton, I have 4 clips that are contiguous. (First clip named RUMBAS, which is the name of the song. This is a click LOOP until the song actually starts. When we’re to start the actual song, I press play on the controller and a click SEQUENCE (NOT LOOP) is activated and plays on until it ends and waits on the next clip which is now a click LOOP. The loop plays until I press play again and it goes on to the next LOOP SEQUENCE until end of song…

If I do this sequence without touching anything but the play button on the controller, all works perfect.
When do things happen that I don’t want them to? When I select any variation in GP WITHIN this song… As soon as I select ANY other variation, the clip selector in Ableton returns to the First clip of the group (RUMBAS) and I cannot continue the clip sequence in order. If I press play it will execute the second clip by default instead of the 3rd or 4th that it is programmed to…

So. The question is : Is there a way to avoid GP from selecting the first clip each time I change variations and just let Ableton carry on the clip order as programmed?

Thanks in advance to everyone

How do you trigger the Ableton clips from GP?

Do you mean, How do I select the clip from GP or how do I “play” the clip?

Ok, my fault
How do you select the clips

I’m using Thaddäus Weindl’s video instructions

Maybe there is a more simple way to do the same job as I am ONLY using ableton as a click player with loop capabilities when needed. I’m not using ANY other function or sounds within Ableton

That‘s me

So you are not selecting clips you are selecting scenes

Oh wow!!!

Nice to put a face to your nick.

Yes. I am selecting scenes. Sorry. My mistake this time

Are you in SetList mode and each song part uses a different rackspace?

Can you upload the Ableton live set and a small gig file, so I can check what is going on?
And the M4Live device you are using?

What I have done different to your video is that I don’t use the play button WITHIN GP. I assigned the play button on my Arturia controller directly to the scene play button in Ableton.

I am in setlist mode and in THIS particular case (RUMBAS song), the variations all use the same rackspace and ONLY changes my SongLyrics pages. So what happens is that when I change to variation 2 or 3 to change my score page, it resets my Ableton scene to the first scene within that group of scenes for this particular song

I would like to reproduce,so please upload

what do you need ? both gp file and Ableton file?

Yes the gp file, the Ableton Live file and the M4L device you are using

I don’t know what M4L device you mean. I followed your video up until the Ableton scene selection worked… but don’t know what M4L device you refer to

In my video I used a M4L device.
What version of Ableton are you using?

I’m using ver.11. I am using the same M4L device you suggested in your video. I downloaded the M4L patch from the forum back then
PIANOPAUL.zip (14.9 MB)

Ok, I will find out

In what GP Song do you face the issue?
