When I press play in Ableton, Gig Performer is started with the tempo set in Ableton Live.
When while playing I change the tempo then the tempo in Gig Performer is changed also.
I have no problem using mutltracks.com Play on my iPad and using Ableton Live as my VST host cutting GP completely out of the equation and all the clocking works. My previous point was how I’m able to get my external clock to work with every other piece of software EXCEPT Gig Performer.
To confirm what messages are being generated (and available to GP), install the Protokol monitoring app, and turn on all the messages to monitor in its toolbar. This helps confirm what’s going on, otherwise you are operating a bit in the dark.
I finally figured it out on my end and your “bet” was right. It was my Express MIDI sync port I should have been using and not the physical MIDI port input.
Now that I got it working, my clock dances around the BPM +/- a few beats and doesn’t hold steady…it’s variable. Is this normal?
I’ve played somewhat with midi clocks and (using Windows) the bpm is not completely stable, but always varying about 0.1 bpm. Never 5 or more beats as your video shows.
The bpm goes crazy however if you use more than one clock source at the same time
