GP clock will NOT sync with external MIDI clock

Here an example with Ableton Live and Gig Performer

Ableton is sending out Midi Clock via IAC

In Gig Performer the Rackspace should sync tempo

In Rig Manager MIDI clock is enabled

When I press play in Ableton, Gig Performer is started with the tempo set in Ableton Live.
When while playing I change the tempo then the tempo in Gig Performer is changed also.

How looks your Rig Manager window?

Why are you not using Ableton Link?

I think in certain situation, like when using the Live tempo follower, you have to do that.

I have no problem using mutltracks.com Play on my iPad and using Ableton Live as my VST host cutting GP completely out of the equation and all the clocking works. My previous point was how I’m able to get my external clock to work with every other piece of software EXCEPT Gig Performer.

To confirm what messages are being generated (and available to GP), install the Protokol monitoring app, and turn on all the messages to monitor in its toolbar. This helps confirm what’s going on, otherwise you are operating a bit in the dark.

I just plugged in a hardware clock generator (MIDRONOME) and here’s a video demonstrating GP synchronizing with it.

We’ve also tested GP with various software clock generators connected via IAC ports, e.g. MaxMSP, LogicPro.

I’m betting that your Micro Express USB clock is just not being routed into GP

I finally figured it out on my end and your “bet” was right. It was my Express MIDI sync port I should have been using and not the physical MIDI port input.

Now that I got it working, my clock dances around the BPM +/- a few beats and doesn’t hold steady…it’s variable. Is this normal?

My clock is at 91, but the GP clock bounces around. OG clock issue perhaps, or is this just how it goes in general?

The other screen is an iPad?

As you could hopefully see from my video, the GP clock faithfully follows the hardware clock generator.

It seems so, using products from:

I’ve played somewhat with midi clocks and (using Windows) the bpm is not completely stable, but always varying about 0.1 bpm. Never 5 or more beats as your video shows.

The bpm goes crazy however if you use more than one clock source at the same time
