I am new to gig performer and have been playing with trial consistently. I kick bass a lot on keys so I set the main bass I would use 80% of the gig in Global rackspace. However there are some dance tunes that require a moog or other synth parts. Is there a way to turn off that global main bass vst on select local rackspace?? Sorry if it’s a dumb question
You can control widgets on the global rackspace panel from widgets on the local rackspace. This would allow you to control (for example) the bypass or muting of the bass vst.
Another option would be if you route the audio from the bass vst to the local rackspace. So if you don’t need it for a particular rackspace, then you just don’t add the “From Global Rackspace” block in that local rackspace.
Okay I think I understand what’s going on here! Gonna get it in front of me tomorrow and shed it out! Thanks for your response!
Just wondered;
It might not be a problem at all, but would this way use a little bit more resources, the bass plugin still running in the global rackspace, than if you bypass it through use of widgets in both local and global rackspace?
Yes you’re right, if it’s active and still being triggered by the controller, then it will be using cpu.
Probably, but so what…unless you’re planning to read emails, surf the net and play games on the same machine while you’re performing
That said, most decently designed plugins don’t take up many cycles when they’re not actually producing sound.
Of course, if you’re actually running out of cycles and glitching because of this, then of course you might want to tweak it, but sometimes we end up spending too much time in the weeds on something that won’t really make a difference.
I have been known to put Netflix on during guitar solo’s
I totally agree. It does not worry me at all. I would just be sure, since the solution was proposed, that I had understood the inner workings of GP correctly, which I obviously had
