Gig Performer vs Mainstage - Facebook Stories

Over time, I’ve noticed a shift—fewer and fewer conversations happening on various forums, and more and more taking place on Facebook.

I’m part of many Facebook groups focused on music, cover bands, backing tracks, and similar.

One discussion that comes up often—and that I always find interesting—is Gig Performer vs. MainStage, or people talking about switching from MainStage to Gig Performer.

I usually just observe rather than jump in (I’m a bit biased :innocent: ), but I do follow along and hit “like” here and there.

I thought I’d share some of the comments I’ve come across.

Bill Hubauer:

For my keyboard playing musician friends: After using Apple’s MainStage for live performance for 15 years, I finally bailed. I’ve been a big fan, but within the past year it has become too unstable and I just can’t trust it. I had a lot of problem on the last NMB tour as well as recent We Came From Space shows.

If anyone cares, I’ve started using Gig Performer as its replacement. It is significantly more flexible than MainStage, and it definitely feels more stable.

Matthew Komaiko:

I was a MainStage user and switched over to Gig Performer. Gig Performer is much more reliable, easier to use and more powerful.

Francis Capistrano:

Gig Performer is easier to use, more universally compatible, more CPU efficient, more stable, less prone to audio dropouts, clearer signal flow, better for troubleshooting, faster to build and modify setups, more flexible routing, handles complex plugins more reliably, less cluttered interface, easier to scale from simple to advanced rigs, better suited for live performance workflows, fewer hidden layers, more predictable behavior on stage, cleaner separation between racks and songs, easier to maintain across multiple gigs, more consistent when moving between systems, and JUST WORKS!

Simpkins Christopher:

I used Ableton and it sucked. I used MainStage and it sucked. Gig Performer is way more user friendly.
The people in the forum are awesome. Go at it with a positive mindset and you’ll have plenty of people who will walk you through your problems.
Trust me. You will love Gig Performer.
