Gig performer routing

Thanks for taking the time to show me this diagram Frank1119. I really appreciate that. I think i may continue on the route to use my other interface, the UAD x8p with my superior drummer. Im use to dealing with wave forms. Not a huge midi person and i think if i were to record into reaper this way, it would come in ,in the form of midi. Yes i think ive seen some videos where you can switch it to wave form in Reaper after the fact. I am also guessing midi has its advantages being able to change the sounds of the notes. Just have not messed with it a whole lot at this point. Right now im multi tasking and adding just one more thing again seems to slow me down. Anyhow, the separate interface works fine to a certain extent without running the program through gig performer. Main issue im having with the interface is that its disconnecting from the superior drummer program at times. Not sure why that is. I have to reset it from time to time. When it does this, in superior drummer, it says audio engine inactive. Then i have to go to audio device settings and push the reset button. The computer is not even going into sleep mode when it does this. Anyone have any advice on this issue?

In that case, using virtual cables or Blue Cat Connector will do exactly what you need!

Thanks. How do those two work?

So would i run this in gig performer? Also this is for a live application, so i will be using superior drummer out to the mains and also into the DAW. How would this be set up?

Thanks. I kinda see how it works. I will download the trial version. Just curious though, i bring in the blue cat set up in the gig performer, it shows the option of audio or midi. If i choose audio, will it put out the audio instead of the midi? Still kinda trying to figure out how this will work as far as routing it through gig performer and back out. I use a midi in patch in gig performer. I then route that to my superior drummer block which i believe has 32 channels. Depending on the presets in superior drummer, they use a different amount of channels but those can also be routed into their own buss groups if needed to cut back on the outputs. The outs on that block then go into the output block in gig performer.

Or will this plugin just enable me to send out of the superior drummer thats in gig performer while enabling a direct output from there into Reaper while the rest of the signal flow continues out to the mains?

Yes. One instance of BC Connector in Gig Performer, and another in Reaper.

Or we could ask the devs to stop working on everything else and implement ReWire in GP.

j/k

Thanks for the link. I forgot to bookmark that post when it was first published.

Seeings there are multi out, how does that effect it? Would like to use at least 10 channels if possible. Does it need an instance for each channel?

There are two channels available per instance of Connector.

Is this Connector plugin independent of Reaper or not? Can it be used without using Reaper?

Independent. It’s a Blue Cat product (link above). Nothing to do with the Reaper devs.

Oh, Yes, I remember this product now. But, as far as I remember, all these products have a significative latency, right?

From the Blue Cat Connector description:
" With precise buffering control, you can achieve the lowest possible latencies : down to 0 samples, when used in a single application."

In my experience, the latency was near zero.

My experience is, that in separate processes there is always some latency. That might be a significant amount of latency, but I could create a usable setup. In one single process it should be only memory shifting/pointing, so that latency could be zero or very near zero (didn’t try that out: I do not see the point (yet) in routing audio in one rackspace from one plugin to another by using Blue Cat)
