Deskew Technologies Releases Gig Performer 5.0.20, Bringing Enhanced Automation Via New Actions and Workflow Improvements
Deskew Technologies, LLC today announced the latest update to Gig Performer®, its premium live-performance audio plugin host. This update, version 5.0.20, introduces several new automation possibilities and workflow enhancements that further help musicians, sound engineers, and performers Own The Stage®.
New actions, inserted in Song Parts or on the Streaming Audio File Player timeline, make automation more powerful, allowing musicians to focus entirely on playing music while Gig Performer handles the rest. For example, they can adjust the order of backing tracks spontaneously mid-performance, and Gig Performer will automatically change, start, stop, or pause tracks as they move through their set, staying in lockstep with the performance.
Song Part actions now allow the user to jump to a specific marker on their timeline, so tracks always align with patches. Easily jump to a looping section during a song transition, or make sure a groove seamlessly changes when moving to a new song part.
Additionally, users can now set plugin parameters directly from the timeline or song parts without widgets, allowing adjustments in the background that are tied explicitly to a moment in your performance. This additional layer of automation makes it possible to change parameters that only have value during a specific portion of a performance, making Rackspaces even more reusable and keeping front panels clean.
The new Delay action can be used to ensure that MIDI messages sent to external hardware are not sent out faster than that hardware can process them.
To speed up the mapping process, Gig Performer’s widgets—graphical user interface components (like sliders, knobs, buttons, or faders) that control specific parameters of the virtual instruments or effects plugins loaded within Gig Performer—now retain the plugin associated with the original widget when they are duplicated or copied.
The MIDI Monitors now allow users to associate custom colors with specific MIDI message types so the user can more easily distinguish different message types.
This update also enhances Gig Performer’s scripting and OSC capabilities. Users can now switch to variations by name using GPScript and view the values of the last MIDI messages that were sent. A new OSC function allows users to shut down Gig Performer with or without saving from an OSC message so the program can be shut down remotely.
Gig Performer 5.0.20, which also addresses bug fixes to ensure reliability and improve the overall performance experience onstage, is a free update for all users. For new users, Gig Performer is available for either MacOS or Windows starting at $169.00, with a cross-platform bundle priced at $199.00.
